Twenty eight of our Year 10 Photography GCSE Students entered photographs into this public competition organised and sponsored by Events Students at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth.
The organisers wanted entrants to explore uniqueness in any form personal to them and in the Dorset area.
They were part of the 150 entries from students, professionals and the general public. We were delighted to discover that eight of our students were through to the final exhibition, being judged by a number of professionals, including lecturers and the reputable celebrity photographer Andy Earl.
On 4th February The Arts Institute hosted a private view where we learned that the winning image was that of Winton Arts & Media College student Luke Praoline.
A copy of Luke’s photograph will be held in The Institute’s archive and displayed as part of the Arts Council of England’s collection, and his work will be published in the highly popular Wessex Muse Magazine.
It proved to be an extremely successful competition. Clearly such initiatives help students to gain higher grades at GCSE and it raises our profile in the community.
Luke said that he was “surprised but very pleased” at winning this great competition.
Well done to everyone who took part and for producing high quality work of such remarkable standards.
