I Remember...
September 2009
Year 11 Double Award GCSE Art and Design students from Winton Arts & Media College have proudly celebrated the official unveiling of a permanent collective piece of public art outside Sainsbury’s Local store on Wimborne Road in Winton.
The piece illustrates old and new elements of Winton, and was commissioned by the developers of the site, Mr Roger Clark and Mr John Brassington in collaboration with Bournemouth Borough Council Arts Development.
We were delighted that Councillor Beryl Baxter, The Mayor of Bournemouth was able to lead the unveiling. A number of friends, governors, parents, students, staff and representatives of the Educational Authority met at the venue to celebrate the success of the arts students and Luke Praoline who produced the final digital image.
Local traders and the general public have found the piece thought provoking and praised the initiative of our students.
Miss John who co-ordinated the project was delighted that the project involved a whole option group of students and has had a direct effect in raising their Art examination results, whilst also contributing something positive to the local community.
