Glenmoor and Winton Educational Trust
Introduction
The Glenmoor and Winton Educational Trust is formally in place from September 1st 2010, at the same time as the federated governing body takes office, following a 6 month consultation period. The schools already collaborate with many organisations to benefit students and the aim is to build upon, and to develop further, those existing relationships as well as exploring others more fully. The partner organisations forming the Trust are the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Arts University College Bournemouth and Cobham plc.
The Role and Vision of the Proposed Trust
The vision of the Trust is to raise the aspirations and attainment of all students through a particular emphasis on emotional literacy, creativity, community cohesion, internationalism and environmental sustainability. It is envisaged that raising the aspirations of the whole community of teachers and learners will raise attainment and it is envisaged that the Trust partners will be pivotal in this. The schools, and their communities, will demonstrably value learning and prepare students for their future through excellence in teaching and learning.
The Key Focus of the Trust
The key focus of the Trust will be to raise further the standards and achievement in learning leading to high attainment levels. In particular this will be achieved for children, young people and their families through:
- • providing greater numbers of experiences through our partners thus building greater self confidence;
- • developing greater emotional security for vulnerable students;
- • offering diverse and appropriate curriculum opportunities 14 – 19;
- • developing aspirations and opportunities for university entrance;
- • building greater links between education and employers;
- • developing further the understanding and responsibility for the local and global environment;
- • developing further the opportunity and responsibility for community cohesion;
- • providing rich opportunities for staff professional development to improve continuously their work with children and young people.
